RE: Drum brake to disc

We bought a new Teton a couple of years ago. Did not like the drum brakes. Took the unit to MorRyde and put new 8,000# axils with electric over hyd disc brakes. The unit stops on a dime... Best money I ever spent... I would never have electric drum brakes again on any trailer..

RE: Trailer brakes question

You have a Voyager. It's a piece of junk . Get rid of it and buy a Prodigy.
If you really want to stop, install electric over Hyd Disc brakes on the trailer.

RE: Grand Canyon over The 4th of July

We worked at the Grand Canyon, South Rim, one summer. A guest asked my wife:
Where is the golf Course?
There isn't one.
Why don't they have TV's in the rooms??
The is no TV, no reception.
Where is the Game Room so her son could play electronic games??
There is No game room..
So..... Finally she asked "Well what do you have???
My wife pointed out the door of the Lodge and said, " Well right out there is one of the Seven Wonders on the World"......
Neff Said????

RE: (4) 6-volt -vs- (4) 12-volt batteries....Your opinion?

I suggest you go to a web site such as A M Solor of Eugene, OR and read up on the difference between types of batteries. We currently use six 6 volt golf cart batteries. These batteries (6 volt batteries)have thicker plates than a 12 volt battery and will last longer than 12 volt batteries.

RE: Gas $3.35 and across the street $3.65 ????

I have driven close to a million miles in several autos and light trucks over the last forty years and I find that it makes no difference where I buy gas. The mileage I receive depends on the type of driving I do and where I do it.
And... I keep a book in every vehicle that I use to record EVERY purchase of fuel and any other costs associated with that vehicle.
Drive with a light foot and buy the cheapest fuel you can find regardless of the vehicle.

RE: Crossing Mexican border just for diesel fuel?

Don't most insurance policies cover you for short trips to Mexico, as long as you don't go further than 25 miles into mexico? When I went to the U of AZ years ago we drove over into Mexico all the time. If I crossed now I would leave my fifth wheel on the US side and cross just to buy fuel and then return. I can hold up to apx 125 gallons in my 1 ton Chev. At $2.00 per gallon savings thats $250 which would buy another 60 gallons of the $4.00 fuel on the US side...
I agree if you take your truck over stay with the truck at all times and after fueling, get the heck out of Mexico with your truck. If you like to shop, walk across, but don't take your truck...

RE: Gas and Diesel prices in Mexico and Central America

Question??? Can you use your VISA card or some other card you would use in the US to buy diesel fuel in Mexico. If not, will the Mexico fuel truck stops along the boarder take US Dollars.
We are getting ready to go from San Antonio to Yuma and I would like to drop the fifth wheel on the US side and cross the boarder to fill my tank with Mexico diesel fuel if possible. Even if I only buy 100 gallons I would save at least $200 over what it would cost in AZ. That should pay for a couple of nites in RV parks in AZ

RE: Transmission Temp When Towing ???

Our one ton Duramax has the Allison transmission. When towing our 33 Teton are total gross is about 26,000. The Temp on the transmission will be uder 170 most of the time and in the mountains it may go to close to 190.
But .. just to be safe I installed a Meghitec Alum transmission pan that increased the ATF by at least 4 to 5 quarts. We will be going from TX to Or in a few weeks and I expect the transmission temp to go down in the mountains.
If you feel the Meghitec transmission pan is to much $ you can buy one of the cheaper pans for about half the price and they well probable work as good.

RE: Trail-Air Equa-Flex or Dexter E-Z Flex?

It will be more expensive but if you have the $$ put MorRyde IS (Independent Suspension) and electric over Hydraulic Disc brakes on. You will rave about the ride and you will be unable to stop talking about how great the Disc Brakes work. We bought a new Teton took it to MorRyde and said wipe it clean and start over. You just cannot believe the difference.

RE: Can I deduct the interest on my taxes?

If you have a computer and apparently you do.. Buy a copy od Turbo Tax and let it calculate your taxes. I've used TT for at least ten years and I'm an accountant. It work great... There are several websites where you can use TT for free. It's hard to beat free..

RE: sales tax on a R/V question

SO LET ME THINK.....If you pay the sales tax @6.5% you pay $6,500 OR you can form a Montana LLC and license it in Montana for a few hundred. A savings of about $5,000....
Or you can pay the $6,500 tax and get an itemizes deduction of $6,500 which if you are in the 25% tax bracket you would get apx $1,600 back of the $6,500 and your still out almost %5,000 out of pocket.
Unless you think for some reason your going to get a Thank You card from your home state for paying them $6,500 I'd form the Montana LLc and take the extra $5,000 and buy fuel for your next extended trip,,

RE: What will you do with your $800 windfall?

for some strange reason we all don't seem to read the news the same way. As I write this CNN on the net is saying that the rebate will be $600 for a single person and $1200 for a couple with an additional $300 per child.
We will be taking our $1200 and signing the check over to the US Treasury to be used for our Quarterly payment to our uncle Sugar Daddy.

RE: Toyota...Japanese or American?

I remember when I was new to this world a few years back there were some folks that intended to take over the world. Thanks to GM, Ford and other American companies they changed from building cars to tanks, Jeeps, and other war material. I often wonder if someone else decided to do the same thing again if all of those foreign owned manufacturing plants will convert to building the things our armed forces need to defend this good ole US of A.??????

Weight in 2006 Chev Causing Front Tire Cupping

I have a 2006 Chev, Duramax, 3500, Longbed, 2wd. I pull a 33' Teton fifth wheel trailer with about 4,000# of pin weight on the fifth wheel.
I had to replace my front Goodyear A/T at 16,000 miles and at 32,000 miles.
I know that most of the "big campers" that fit on this truck would have a weight of about 4,000# ++. My question is "Do any of you who have a similar truck have problems with the front tires Cupping as a result of too much weight on the rear causing weight tranfer from the front to the rear and the front tires floating when going down the highway?"
I have the front end alignment checked, tires balanced, Centramatic tire balancers installed and new front Rancho shocks... Air PSI checked and set to mfg specs...
Any suggestions to a possible solution, other then buying another new truck.????
